UOL and PPHG have won their first Impact Enterprise Excellence Award (Large Enterprise) at the prestigious Sustainability Impact Awards 2024! This accolade recognises the Group’s dedicated efforts in managing climate risk, supporting communities and conducting business responsibly.
UOL Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer Yeong Sien Seu accepted the accolade from President of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who was the Guest-of-Honour at an awards ceremony held at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore on 26 September 2024.
Jointly organised by The Business Times and UOB, the awards honour businesses and individuals who strive to make an impact on the environment and society, driving forward innovations toward a greener and more inclusive future.
Mr Yeong said: “Winning the Sustainability Impact Award is a proud moment for UOL and PPHG. This recognition not only highlights our green and sustainability contributions to the built environment and hospitality industry, but also reflects our commitment to high standards of corporate governance, inclusivity, and support for our communities.
“As a forerunner in the sustainability journey in Singapore, we believe that business success must align with positive environmental, social and governance (ESG) impact. We will continue to embrace opportunities to innovate and lead by example within the industry, enhancing long-term shareholder value and safeguarding the interests of our stakeholders.”
As one of the pioneers in adopting sustainable construction methods, the Group has used Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC) to improve productivity and safety in high-rise construction, and to reduce waste and lower carbon emissions. This method has been applied in residential projects like The Clement Canopy and Avenue South Residence, the world’s tallest residential buildings developed using PPVC at the time of construction.
Expanding into biophilic architecture over a decade ago, the Group was ahead of the curve with PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering’s sustainable design and practices. PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay and Pan Pacific Orchard also feature award-winning green building typologies.
The Group actively supports underserved communities, focusing on children, youth, education, sports and the arts through flagship initiatives such as the UOL-PPHG Community Uplift Programme and UOL X ART:DIS Art Prize. This year, the company received its third Champion of Good award from the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre and its third Distinguished Patron of the Arts award from the National Arts Council. Additionally, the Group was ranked among the top 15 companies in the Singapore Governance and Transparency Index and received an “AA” rating from MSCI ESG Ratings in 2023.
Mr Yeong Sien Seu, UOL Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer, Ms Sarah Ng, UOL General Manager (Corporate Communications, Investor Relations & Sustainability), Mr Melvin Lim, PPHG General Manager (Pan Pacific Singapore) and Mr Phil Smith, PPHG General Manager (PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay) attended the awards ceremony.
