UOL Group Chief Executive Liam Wee Sin (second from right) received a token of appreciation from Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing, for the Group's two-year commitment to the Learning and Special Needs Support programme.

On 11 October 2024, UOL pledged to sustain its commitment to support children with learning disabilities by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Care Corner Singapore.

UOL Group Chief Executive Officer Liam Wee Sin and Care Corner Chief Executive Officer Christian Chao signed the MOU at the Care Corner’s ‘Uplift For Life’ gala dinner held at Conrad Singapore Orchard. The Guest-of-Honour Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing witnessed the ceremony.

As part of the agreement, UOL will provide an annual donation of $100,000 for the years 2025 and 2026, benefitting about 65 children with learning disabilities. The funding will support Care Corner’s Learning and Special Needs Support programme to provide assistance to children aged three to 13 from low-income families earning less than $950 a month.

Care Corner Singapore, a social service agency with over 40 years of dedication, provides social and healthcare services to uplift those in need. Since 2018, UOL has actively supported Care Corner through donations and staff volunteer initiatives focusing on children from low-income families.

Mr Liam said: “At UOL, we believe in fostering a more inclusive society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. We have been sustaining our support towards Care Corner’s initiatives for disadvantaged children since 2018. Last year, we extended our commitment to helping the elderly under its care so that they can remain active and age healthily. By partnering with an organisation like Care Corner, we aim to uplift families and build a stronger community.”

UOL’s contributions have strengthened vital programs, including ensuring less privileged children can attend after-school care, enhancing literacy and numeracy services for children with developmental delays, and supporting the Frailty Management Programme for seniors over 65, promoting their active and healthy lifestyles through professional interventions.

UOL will continue to collaborate with its community partners and strive to make an impact in the community.
