Spreading joy, doing good

As the Group steps into 2025, it reflects on meaningful initiatives that made a difference. In the spirit of festive giving, UOL Corporate Communications, Investor Relations & Sustainability, Marketing Communications and PPHG Sustainability Partnerships & Asset teams organised several engaging activities that brought joy to the community. The organisation aims to maintain this momentum and continue doing good in the year ahead.

On 30 Nov and 1 Dec 2024, UOL sponsored the fourth art jamming series at United Square, featuring talented ART:DIS artist Abraham Koh. Living with dysphasia, a speech disorder and central processing challenges, he is a drawing and painting specialist. He also won the Merit award in the Emerging Artist Category (Closed) at the inaugural UOL X ART:DIS Art Prize 2023.

Abraham facilitated four pin badge design art jamming sessions over two days, attended by over 60 participants. One of the workshop participants, Elana Ng, 13, said: “It’s interesting to create my own pin and do art with others, admiring each other’s designs. Abraham is patient and tells us how to do simple versions of his drawings, which are very pretty!”

This was the 25-year-old artist’s first experience conducting a workshop. He shared: “I learned a lot from ART:DIS on conducting the sessions, how to express ideas and sense of colours to the children. I want to improve in communicating with them. One child told me that my artworks are the best he’d ever seen, and a parent commented on how beautiful they are. These moments made me feel energised and happy. I am thankful to UOL for the opportunity.”

The December school holidays were extra special for ComLink+ participants with two activities. On 14 Dec 2024, 71 ComLink+ children and families, with 23 UOL and PPHG volunteers, gathered at SuperBowl SAFRA Toa Payoh for an afternoon of high-energy bowling. For some, it was their first time bowling, making the event truly memorable. Mr Desmond Lee, Minister-in-Charge of Social Services Integration, graced the event and mingled with attendees.

The fun continued on 18 Dec 2024, when 16 children took part in an introductory robotics session sponsored by The Lab, KINEX. Using block programming and the LEGO SPIKE app, they teamed up in pairs to control their robotic cars, igniting curiosity and creativity. After the session, the children enjoyed lunch sponsored by Burger King and received goodie bags to take home.

As part of the mall-wide UOL Gives Back Campaign, over 130 children from low-income families had their holiday wishes come true. Shoppers, colleagues and tenants from UOL malls contributed generously to fulfilling the requests of children from Care Corner Student Care Centres and Singapore Red Cross Young Hearts. The children’s eyes lit up with joy as they received their presents in Dec 2024.

These heartwarming initiatives brought smiles to everyone involved, spreading the joy of the season. A big thank you to partners for making these experiences so memorable!
